Pilgrimage

 * Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: Reported from Moaiwa bin Amaar from Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) that he said: “ When Allah took the pledges from the servants, he ordered the stone to swallow it. This is why you say: “I fulfilled my pledge and saved my trust, so bear witness my loyalty.” [1]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Sadouq states in Ilal Al-Sharai Book: Rerpoted from Mohammad bin Sannan that Imam Abou Al-Hassan Al-Rida wrote answers for the questions that he was asked about touching the stone. It said: “When Allah took the pledges from the children of Adam, the stone swallowed them. Then Allah imposed on people to fulfill this covenant. This is why you say: “ I fulfilled my pledge and saved my trust, so bear witness my loyalty”.”

* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: Reported from Ali bin Abdel-Azeez from Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) that he said: “Allah remits all the sins of he who looks at Kaa’ba with knowledge of our rights and sacredness as he has knowledge of it and its sacredness, and relieves him from burdens and sorrows in Donia and Hereafter.” [2]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: Reported from Ibn Fadal (Pbuh) that he heard Imam Rida (Pbuh) say: “everyone who stands on these mountains is responded to his supplications. As for the believers the response is delayed to the hereafter. As for the infidels, the response is given to them in Donia.” [3]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Toussi states in Tah’theeb Al-Ahkam Book: Reported from Abdel-A’ala from Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) that he said that his father (Pbuh) used to say: “whoever comes to this house with no arrogance shall return as same as he was born.” then Imam (Pbuh) recited this verse { But if any one hastens to leave in two days, there is no blame on him, and if any one stays on, there is no blame on him, if his aim is to do right.} he said: “What is arrogance?” Imam (Pbuh) said: “The Messenger of Allah (Pbuhp) says: “the greatest arrogance is tainting people and changing right” He asked: “what is that?” Imam (Pbuhp) said: “being ignorant of right and accusing its people. He is changing the descriptions of Allah he who does that.” [4]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: Reported from Khalid Al-Kalanisi from Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) that he said that Imam Ali Bin Al-Hussein (Pbuh) said: “perform pilgrimage and Omra so that your bodies restore good heath, your livelihood increase and you satisfy the needs of your families…”[5]

* Al-Hor Al-Amili states in Wasa’el Al-Shia Book: Reported from Zurara from Imam Abou Jaa’far (Pbuh) that he said: “the peak of this matter, its key, the door of every matter and the consent of the Most Gracious are in obeying the Imam after knowing him. If a man worshiped all night, fasted every day, gave all his money for charity and performed pilgrimage every year, yet he didn’t know the saint of Allah so that he is loyal to him and act by his lead then he has no right for claiming any reward from Allah  and he is not considered a faithful  man.” [6]

* Ahmad bin Mohammad bin Khalid Al-Barqi states in Al-Mahasin Book: Rerpoted from Abou Amr Al-Kulanini that he said: “I was practicing Tawaf with Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) as he was leaning on me.  Then he said: “O Amr, plenty is the blackness. I said: “yes” then Imam said: “I swear to Allah, none truly performs pilgrimage but you, none will be given twice the reward but you.  I swear to Allah, you are the managers of the sun and moon. I swear to Allah, you are the people of faith. You are the ones accepted from and you are the ones forgiven.”

* Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Qummi states in his Tafseer Book: Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) said: “when prophet Ibrahim finished building the house, Allah ordered him to proclaim the pilgrimage among men. So Ibrahim said: “O lord, where would my voice reach.”Allah said: “you proclaim and I will make you voice reach everyone.” So he mounted the platform that was besides the house then. Then the platform rose till it became above mountains. So he started calling as he placed his fingers in his ears and he turned east and then turned west and said: “You People, Allah wrote that you must perform pilgrimage towards this house. So respond to the call of your lord. So they responded from under the 7 seas,  from between the east and west, from the ends of lands,  from the seeds of men and from the wombs of women  and said “we respond to your call O Allah, we respond.”  So whoever performs pilgrimage from then till Resurrection Day is from those who responded to the call of Allah. This is what Allah said: {there are clear signs in the shrine of Ibrahim} meaning the proclamation of Ibrahim for pilgrimage.” [7]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: Reported from Al-Fadeel that he went with Imam Abou Jaa’far (Pbuh) to the sacred mosque. We were standing by the door of the sons of Shayba and he (Pbuh) was looking at people. Then Imam (Pbuh) said: “this is how they used to practice Tawaf in the Ignorance Era.  They don’t know any right nor have any faith in any religion. O Fadeel, behold them walking headlong with their faces groveling May Allah damn them wretched creatures.” Then Imam recited this verse: {Is then one who walks headlong, with his face groveling, better guided, By Allah, meaning Ali  and the custodians after him O Fadeel, I swear to Allah, none performed pilgrimage but you. Allah will not forgive anyone but you and accept from anyone but you. You are worthy of this verse.  when you avoid the huge sins that you were prohibited from, we remit your sins. When you avoid the huge sins that you were prohibited from, we remit your sins and allow you to dwell in an honored rank.  O Fadeel, aren’t you pleased that you establish prayer, give Zakat, and hold back your tongues.” Then Imam recited {didn’t you see those who were told to hold back their hands, establish prayer and give Zakat}I swear to Allah,  you are the people of this verse” [8]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Sadouq states in Al-Amali Book:Reported from Basheer Al-Dahhan that he told Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh): “I missed pilgrimage so I visited the grave of Imam Hussein (Pbuh).” Imam said: “Well done O Basheer, whoever visits Imam Hussein (Pbuh) knowing his true rights on a day that is not a holiday, Allah shall write that he performed 20 righteous accepted pilgrimages and Omras and 20 battles with a messenger or a just Imam. He who visits him on a holiday, 100 pilgrimages, 100 Omras, and 100 battles with a messenger or a just Imam will be written for him. He who visits him on Arafa day knowing his right, 1000 righteous accepted pilgrimages, 1000 Omras and 1000 battles with a messenger or a just Imam will be written for him.” He said: “How can I earn such a matter?” So Imam looked at him angrily and said: “O Basheer, when a believer comes to Imam Hussein’s grave on Arafa Day, and washes himself in Al-Furat River then walks towards him, Allah counts for every step he takes a performed pilgrimage and a battle.” [9]

* Jaa’far bin Qulawaih states in Kamil Al-Ziarat Book: Reported from Abdel-Rahman bin Katheer the servant of Imam Abou Jaa’far (Pbuh) from Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) that he said: “If one went to pilgrimage in every year of his life and yet he didn’t visit Al-Hussein Bin Ali (Pbuh) he is considered to have abandoned a right from the rights of the Messenger of Allah (Pbuhp) because the rights of Hussein are a duty imposed by Allah on every Muslim.” [10]

* Jaa’far bin Qulawaih states in Kamil Al-Ziarat Book: Reported from Ibn Sanan that he said to Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh): “May I be sacrificed for your sake, your father says that during pilgrimage one thousand dirham are counted for one if he spent one dirham. So what does one earn when walking towards your father Hussein (Pbuh)?” Imam (Pbuh) said: “O Ibn Sanan, for each dirham ten thousand dirhams are counted for him and he is raised in ranks in the same number along with the contentment of Allah, the supplication of Mohammad, Ameer Elmo’mineen and the Imams.” [11]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: Reported from Bakeer bin Ayon that he asked Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh): “Why the stone is placed in the corner where is present now and not in another place? Why do we kiss it and why was is brought out of heaven? Why were the covenants and pledges of people placed in it and not in another? What is reason of that? Can you tell me may I be sacrificed for your sake for it perplexed my mind.” Imam (Pbuh) said: “You asked a good question so understand the answer. Empty your heart and listen well for I will tell you. The black stone is a jewel that was brought out from heaven to Adam (pbuh). It was placed in that corner because Allah took the pledge from the children of Adam in that place. They saw him in that place. It is also the place where the bird will come down to Al-Qa’im (Pbuh) and be the first to pledge loyalty to him. This bird is Jibraeel (pbuh). At that corner, Imam Al-Qa’im will lean his back. It is the argument and the proof that shows Al-Qa’im. It will testify with loyalty to who came to it and it will testify to who fulfilled the pledge and the covenant that Allah took on the servants.” [12]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: Reported from Thareeh Al-Moharibi from Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) that he said: “He dies as a Hebrew or a Christian he who dies without performing the pilgrimage of Islam with no excuse as being needy or ill or because of presence of a power that forbids him from going.” [13]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Kulaini states in Al-Kafi Book: Reported from Abou Baseer that he heard Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) say: “He who dies after living a healthy wealthy life and yet he didn’t perform pilgrimage is who is meant by this saying of Allah {We will resurrect him Blind} he said: “Exalted is Allah. Blind!” Imam said: “Yes, Allah blinded him from seeing the path of right.” [14]

* Al-Sheikh Al-Sadouq states in Thawab Al-A’mal Book: Reported from Abdellah bin Maimoun from Imam Abou Abdellah (Pbuh) from his father (Pbuh) that he said: “among the commandments of Ameer Elmo’mineen (Pbuh) was: Don’t abandon going to house of your lord for pilgrimage or else you will perish. He who doesn’t go to pilgrimage because of a matter of Donia, Allah doesn’t grant him success in this matter until all other people fulfill their matters.”[15]
